Mary Had a Little Hat Set

This fun little set is for my friend Betsy's 8-year old, Mary. She requested hot pink and brown, picked out the sparkly "gem", and left the rest up to me. I love the way it turned out, especially the scarf...totally reminds me of neopolitan ice cream like I used to have at my grandma and grandpa's house. Except there I would stir it and stir it until it all turned a dull brown. Not so with this...these colors should stay vibrant even after a lot of washes. I love this yarn!!!

My pics didn't turn out so great....I'm wishing I'd turned off the flash. The color combo, in real life, is really very complimentary...not harsh like these pictures seem to show.

Pink Marshmallow Goodness

I made this little set for my friend Betsy to give as a shower gift. I used a new yarn that I just discovered, and I love it! It's 50/50 cotton/acrylic, so it should be pretty easy to care for. Best of all, though, is the soft, almost marshmallowy squishiness of the yarn....it's downright yummy!

I love the pink, brown, and white color scheme for little girls, and I think these hues work perfectly. I'm going to make a set like this for both Chloe and Sylvie, and I think I'll try my hand at crocheting a little brown birdie applique in place of the flowers.

Silly Sunhat or Simple Strawberry Shortcake?

I started out doing just a basic single-crochet spiral as the base for a crown hat. Somewhere along the line, I made it too large and flat (blame it on crocheting while watching Grey's). Rather than undo it all, I just kept going and decided to make Chloe a beret. Then I decided to keep going and make her a sunhat. Then I decided to add white picot edging. Then I decided to add some little stitchy lines around the middle. My next step was going to be a HUGE flower, but the more I look at it, just don't know. I'm starting to think the edging is a bit much...

My constant dilemma....where have I crossed the line between just right and too much????
Do I keep the edging and add a flower and just make it her silly sun hat, or do I take it off and go back to the simpler, yet still way cute Strawberry Shortcake style?

Hmmm.......

Oh, that's Puffcorn Chloe is gnawing on....I had to plead with her to hold still for a pic, so I guess I'll take what I can get, eh? (:

Another hat and scarf set completed!

I just mailed these out yesterday. My friend, Molly, ordered the hat and wanted a matching scarf for her niece as a Valentine's gift. I love the self-striping cotton yarn from Lily...and this color combo is so fresh and bright for spring!

My first post!

Welcome to my blog! I've decided to use this as a way to share some of my projects-in-progress, as well as some fun custom orders I've done. I have opened a shop on Etsy.com, where I am currently selling crocheted hats for babies, toddlers, and little girls. I will be expanding to include tutus, hair wear, boys' items, and organic cotton onesies.

Because I make everything myself, it's taken awhile to build up my store's inventory. I've been working on several custom orders....I LOVE doing these! It's especially fun for me when my customers give me artistic license to create something really unique for them.

Here's a Valentine hat and scarf set I just finished for a soon-to-be 1-year old. I think it turned out very sweet!
